Reading Your Explanation of Benefits
You know that piece of paper you receive in the mail after you see your doctor or have a test done that says, “THIS IS NOT A BILL”? If you’ve ever been confused by that document, you’re not alone!
That document is called an explanation of benefits or “EOB” and shows your medical claims and payments made by your health benefit plan. You’ll want to pay special attention to the “Patent Responsibility” section of your EOB because it shows the amount you are responsible for paying to your provider.
TIP: You can choose to receive your EOBs electronically via your member portal, myLuminareHealth.com. Just go to the About Me tab in the portal to select how you’d like to receive your EOBs.
